Resumen

The case studies presented in this book highlight how public-private partnerships (PPPs) of various types and across sectors work in practice, shedding light on their many similarities and some differences. By taking a broad look at the diverse characteristics and consequences of PPPs in the global South, they offer lessons on the implications of these projects for governance, access to services, social inequalities and rights enforcement. This final chapter uses a Southern and intersectional feminist approach to trace common concerns and points of divergence that emerge from the case studies discussed thus far in the book. It offers critiques of the PPP model based on these case studies and puts forth some ideas for a social and political agenda for regulation of such partnerships. Finally, it argues for reclaiming the central role of the state in public provisions and rights guarantees in a way that is commensurate with feminist mobilising on these issues.
