Metafísica e ciência em Leibniz: uma questão de "reinos"

Abstract

Neste trabalho, analisa-se a maneira como Leibniz concebe a relação entre os "reinos" da metafísica, por um lado, e das ciências físicas e matemáticas, por outro. Leibniz propõe uma estrutura hierárquica na qual a metafísica ocupa uma posição fundamental, mas não intervém diretamente na operação interna das ciências. Após mostrar que, apesar de sua relativa autonomia, os domínios se harmonizam, abordamos alguns exemplos específicos, como o status dos "princípios" científicos e o uso das "ficções". Por fim, analisamos a articulação interna do reino do fundado, enfocando a relação entre matemática e física.

This paper analyzes Leibniz’s account of the relationship between the “realms” of metaphysics, on the one hand, and the physical and mathematical sciences, on the other. Leibniz proposes a hierarchical structure in which metaphysics holds a foundational position but does not directly intervene in the internal operations of the sciences. After showing that these domains, despite their relative autonomy, are harmonized, we examine specific examples, such as the status of scientific “principles” and the use of “fictions”. Finally, we analyze the internal articulation of the realm of the grounded, focusing on the relationship between mathematics and physics.
