Model quality assessment programs are essential for protein and RNA structure prediction. They could allow to rank several alternative models, identify good ones and estimate how well they represent native structures. This chapter highlights the currently available and widely used methods for the evaluation of protein and RNA structure models. These are grouped by their approach to model assessment, involving the comparison to a reference structure, the assessment of individual model properties or a collective analysis of all proposed structures. A comparative description of their features and applicability is provided, along with a general view on the history and future of their development.
