El paisaje en Geografía: Un análisis histórico del concepto

Abstract

El concepto de paisaje constituye una categoría fundamental para el estudio del espacio geográfico. Con una presencia continua en la historia de la Geografía fue considerado de diferentes maneras por sus dispares perspectivas paradigmáticas. El presente trabajo construye un marco interpretativo basado en la contraposición entre las posturas filosóficas del positivismo y del anti-positivismo. El paisaje desde el positivismo se analiza en la Geografía Física, Ecología del Paisaje, Geoecología y Geografía Cuantitativa, mientras que desde el anti-positivismo se lo hace en la Geografía RacionalistaIdealista, Geografía Cultural, Geografía Crítica, Geografía Postmoderna y Cibergeografía. Se consideran varias posibilidades de abordajes con la finalidad de avanzar en la comprensión de sus capacidades en apoyo a la Geografía Aplicada.

The concept of landscape constitutes a fundamental category for the study of geographic space. With a continuous presence in the history of Geography, it has been considered in different ways due to its different paradigmatic perspectives. This paper constructs an interpretive framework based on the contrast between the philosophical positions of positivism and anti-positivism. Landscape from a positivist perspective is analyzed in Physical Geography, Landscape Ecology, Geoecology, and Quantitative Geography, while from an anti-positivist perspective, it is analyzed in Rationalist-Idealist Geography, Cultural Geography, Critical Geography, Postmodern Geography, and Cybergeography. Different approaches are considered with the aim of advancing the understanding of its capabilities in support of Applied Geography.
