El principio del fin, la gran huelga de los ferris y estibadores, Entre Ríos, 1920

Abstract

Durante los años 1917-1922 la clase obrera entrerriana -y argentina-vivió uno de sus momentos de mayor conflictividad laboral, creando sindicatos e incitando luchas por mejoras salariales como nunca se había conocido hasta entonces. Los resultados fueron favorables a los trabajadores durante los primeros años, lo que generó una oposición patronal y estatal que se hizo sentir con fuerza desde fines de 1920. La propuesta de ponencia versa sobre un momento histórico caracterizado de quiebre en la historia de los trabajadores entrerrianos, que se inicia con una gran huelga en los ferris que unían a esta provincia con el resto del territorio argentino, donde se jugó la capacidad obrera para cohesionar a sus fuerzas contra los patrones, pero también la inteligencia de las patronales para presionar e interesar al Estado en la represión del movimiento. En consecuencia, se trata de una lucha obrera que irradia luz sobre el proceso más amplio que se desarrollaba, a saber, la lucha por el precio de la fuerza de trabajo y la lucha contra los sindicatos. Para la reconstrucción del proceso histórico nos valemos de una gran variedad de recursos documentales entre los que se destaca la prensa obrera y comercial de la época, fuentes primarias del Archivo General de la Nación Argentina, material estadístico estatal y documentos de la Federación Obrera Regional Argentina pertenecientes al acervo documental de la Confederación General del Trabajo.

During the years 1917-1922, the Entre Ríos - and Argentine - working class experienced one of its moments of greatest labor conflict, creating unions and inciting struggles for salary improvements like never before known. The results were favorable to the workers during the first years, which generated employer and state opposition that was strongly felt from the end of 1920. The proposal for the presentation is about a historical moment characterized by a break in the history of Entre Ríos workers, which began with a great strike on the ferries that linked this province with the rest of the Argentine territory, where the workers' capacity was played to unite their forces against the bosses, but also the intelligence of the bosses to pressure and interest the State in the repression of the movement. Consequently, it is a workers' struggle that sheds light on the broader process that was developing, namely the struggle for the price of labor power and the struggle against unions. To reconstruct the historical process we use a wide variety of documentary resources, among which the working and commercial press of the time stand out, primary sources from the General Archive of the Argentine Nation, state statistical material and documents from the Argentine Regional Workers' Federation. belonging to the documentary collection of the General Confederation of Labor.
