Algunas claves de la Revolución en el Río de la Plata (1810-1820)

Abstract

Os bicentenários das independências ibero-americanas provocaram uma revisão geral da historiografia desse período. Nesse artigo, utilizo algumas contribuições mais recentes sobre a questão para analisar, em primeiro lugar, os acontecimentos de 1810, e, a seguir, considerar quais as transformações que fizeram desse momento uma revolução. Finalmente, analiso em um dos aspectos da mudança que pesquisei: o aparecimento e a importância da participação política popular na cidade de Buenos Aires.

The bicentenaries of the Iberian-American independences have provoked a general historiographical review of that period. In this article I take some of the most recent approaches on the issue so as to explain, first, what happened in the 1810s, and then to consider which were the changes that made of that moment a revolution. Finally, I focus in one of the aspects (which I have researched) of the transformation: the appearance, the features and the importance of popular political participation in the city of Buenos Aires.
