Walter Benjamin y Judith Butler: hacia una crítica de la violencia

Abstract

El texto posa algunas preguntas sobre la violencia en la articulación de las consideraciones críticas contenidas en textos de Walter Benjamin y Judith Butler. Reconocemos a Butler como una lectora atenta de la obra benjaminiana, que ha sabido retomar la potencia de su obra y volverla un insumo teórico valioso para sus reflexiones. Mediante un recorrido anacrónico por textos y comentarios, la hipótesis de lectura ensaya un diálogo que explora puntos de acercamiento y distancia en relación a la forma que ha tomado la crítica de la violencia en cada autorx. En esa dirección, aparece la discusión sobre el verdadero estado de excepción, el vínculo entre la reflexión mesiánica y la ética, la temporalidad, y la interrupción como modo de intervención política. Un diálogo que intenta, en definitiva, una tarea crítica de la violencia atenta a su reproducción pero también a sus puntos de fuga.

The following article poses some questions about violence in the articulation of critical considerations contained in texts by Walter Benjamin and Judith Butler. We recognize Butler as an attentive reader of Benjamin’s work, who has been able to take up the power of his work and turn it into a valuable theoretical input for her reflections. Through an anachronistic journey through texts and commentaries, the reading hypothesis rehearses a dialogue that explores points of rapprochement and distance in relation to the form that the critique of violence has taken in each author. Considering the points of rapprochement and distance, the discussion on the true state of exception, the link between Messianic reflection and ethics, temporality, and interruption as a mode of political intervention appears. A dialogue that attempts, in summary, a critical task of violence attentive to its reproduction but also to its points of escape.
