Una ética contra el fatalismo: Reflexiones en torno a la libertad, la virtud y la utilidad común en Spinoza

Abstract

El objetivo de este artículo es analizar algunos aspectos de la concepción spinoziana de la libertad y su vínculo con la noción de virtud, para mostrar que Spinoza no es un fatalista y que, por el contrario, de su proyecto filosófico se sigue una concepción de la libertad humana que implica no sólo la posibilidad efectiva de actuar sobre lo real, en conjunto con otros individuos, sino también la posibilidad de ver incrementada la propia potencia en ese trabajo de resistencia colectiva. Para llevar adelante nuestro propósito, el artículo se va a dividir en dos grandes partes: en la primera, haciendo referencia a distintos pasajes de su obra, restituimos la crítica de Spinoza a la noción tradicional de providencia. En la segunda parte de este artículo, concentrándonos en la Ética de Spinoza, estudiaremos algunos elementos que llevan a afirmar la posibilidad de pensar una ética de la liberación en el marco del determinismo universal que postula su ontología de la inmanencia.

The aim of this article is to analyze some aspects of Spinoza's conception of freedom and its link with the notion of virtue, in order to show that Spinoza is not a fatalist and that, on the contrary, from his philosophical project follows a conception of human freedom that implies not only the effective possibility of acting on the real, together with other individuals, but also the possibility of seeing one's own power increase in this work of collective resistance. In order to carry out our purpose, the article will be divided into two main parts: in the first, referring to different passages of his work, we return to Spinoza's critique of the traditional notion of providence. In the second part of this article, concentrating on Spinoza's Ethics, we will study some elements that lead us to affirm the possibility of thinking an ethics of liberation within the framework of the universal determinism that his ontology of immanence postulates.
