Naciones en conmemoración: teoría, historiografía y estudios de los Bi-Centenarios patrios latinoamericanos, siglos XX-XXI

Abstract

Este artículo se estructura en tres partes. La primera se dedica a la teoría y la conceptualización de las conmemoraciones de la comunidad política en general, resaltando la naturaleza interdisciplinaria del objeto. A continuación, se revisan las perspectivas adoptadas en las investigaciones sobre los Centenarios patrios en América Latina en su primera oleada en torno al año 1910 y la segunda durante la década de 1920. La última parte, en comparación con la anterior, presenta un balance –necesariamente provisorio– de los estudios de las conmemoraciones de los Bicentenarios en torno al año 2010 y la segunda oleada de festejos actualmente en curso. Se identifican algunas preguntas transversales a los dos momentos históricos, se ponderan las especificidades y énfasis en cada agenda (incluido el tipo de fuentes disponibles), junto con las preguntas y enfoques que todavía están pendientes de explorar con más profundidad en cada caso y en especial aquellas que se abren en el marco de las conmemoraciones actuales: la relación entre las luchas memoriales y las dinámicas de inclusión-exclusión en los rostros de la nación; el análisis comparativo y conectado a nivel internacional y subnacional, y el aprovechamiento de herramientas etnográficas para el estudio de los públicos.

This article is structured in three parts. The first is devoted to the theory and conceptualization of the commemorations of the political community in general, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of the object. The second part reviews the perspectives adopted in research on the patriotic centennials in Latin America during the first wave around 1910 and the second wave of the 1920s. The final part deals with the recent past, presenting a balance -necessarily provisional- of the studies on the commemorations of the Bicentennials around the year 2010 and the second wave of celebrations currently underway. The texts identifies transversal issues across the two historical moments, weighs the specificities and emphases in each agenda (including the types of sources available), along with questions and approaches that are still pending to be explored in more depth in each case, especially those arising in the current commemorations: the relationship between memorial struggles and dynamics of inclusion-exclusion in the representations of the nation; the comparative and connected analyses at the international and subnational levels, and the use of ethnographic tools for the study of the public spheres.
