Patrimonio territorial en zonas áridas rurales: Vestigios ferroviarios y recursos bioculturales en el sur del sitio Ramsar Lagunas de Guanache, Desaguadero y Del Bebedero, Argentina

Abstract

La disminución de la población rural y el deterioro del hábitat en zonas áridas presentan desafíos para la sostenibilidad. En este contexto, el objetivo del trabajo es indagar el patrimonio territorial como recurso de desarrollo local, centrándose en los vestigios ferroviarios situados al sur del sitio Ramsar Lagunas de Guanache, Desaguadero y Del Bebedero, Argentina. Metodológicamente, se realizó un relevamiento del estado de conservación de las estaciones ferroviarias y se evaluó su riesgo de deterioro. Posteriormente, se identificaron nodos de articulación territorial y se analizaron recursos bioculturales en tres áreas de influencia (800 metros, 3 km y 25 km), incluyendo aquellos no reconocidos. Los resultados muestran que el 86% de las estaciones presentan un alto grado de deterioro; siendo las del Ramal operativo Justo Daract-Beazley-La Paz las más afectadas, porque carecen de equipamiento, son inaccesibles y, en su mayoría, están en desuso. El análisis de nodos estratégicos en La Paz, Desaguadero y Maquinista Levet muestra la existencia de bienes culturales, socio y biodiversidades asociadas. El trabajo permite concluir que la gestión del patrimonio ferroviario puede fortalecerse con otros recursos bioculturales, diversificando y potenciando el atractivo del territorio. Finalmente, enfatiza la necesidad de diseñar políticas integrales y de regeneración estratégica.

The decline in the rural population and the deterioration of habitat in arid areas present challenges for sustainability. In this context, the objective of this work is to investigate territorial heritage as a resource for local development, focusing on the railway remains located south of the Lagunas de Guanache, Desaguadero and Del Bebedero Ramsar site, Argentina. Methodologically, the state of conservation of the railway stations was surveyed and their risk of deterioration was assessed. Subsequently, territorial articulation nodes were identified, and biocultural resources were analysed in three areas of influence (800 metres, 3 km and 25 km), including those not recognised. The results show that 86% of the stations show a high degree of deterioration; those of the Justo Daract-Beazley-La Paz operational branch being the most affected, because they lack equipment, are inaccessible and, for the most part, are in disuse. The analysis of strategic nodes in La Paz, Desaguadero and Maquinista Levet shows the existence of cultural assets, socio and associated biodiversity. The work allows us to conclude that the management of railway heritage can be strengthened with other biocultural resources, diversifying and enhancing the attractiveness of the territory. Finally, it emphasizes the need to design comprehensive and strategic regeneration policies.
