Resumen
According to the latest INDEC census, approximately 63% of the Argentine population professes the Catholic religion.1 The persignation, also known as Signum Crucis (SC) in Latin,2 is a religious gesture widely practiced in Christianity, symbolizing faith in the Holy Trinity. This gesture consists of drawing a vertical line from the forehead to the chest, followed by a horizontal line from one shoulder to the other. This is considered to invoke divine protection. The blessing is performed with the right hand, often accompanied by the oral or mental recitation of a Trinitarian formula: “in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.”
