Múltiples escalas espaciales y temporales en la construcción cotidiana de la frontera boliviano-argentina

Abstract

El artículo parte de la idea de multiescalaridad para revisar diferentes procesos, con métricas temporales y espaciales diversas, que cotidianamente participan en la construcción de la frontera interestatal entre Bolivia y Argentina. Se revisan tres posibles aproximaciones a la relación entre escala y frontera. Luego, se concentra en cuatro entramados de prácticas y sentidos sobre esta frontera, producidos por agencias e intereses diversos, donde se intersecta, superpone o yuxtapone lo local y lo nacional, lo urbano binacional y lo global, el centro y la periferia.

The article presents the need to analyze frontiers from a multiscale (that is, relating to multiple spaces simultaneously) perspective. It reviews different processes, with diverse temporal and spatial metrics that participate, daily, in the construction of the interstate border between Bolivia and Argentina. First, three possible approaches to the relationship between scale and border are studied. Then, the article focuses on four frameworks of practices and meanings that take place at this border, produced by diverse agencies and interests. Within these practices and meanings, intersect, overlap, or juxtapose, the local and the national, the binational urban and the global, the center and the periphery.
