Palabras amenazadas de insignificancia: crítica y testimonio en Oración, de María Moreno (2018)

Abstract

Este ensayo propone una lectura de Oración (2018), de María Moreno, centrada en los modos en que el libro interviene sobre la teoría y la práctica del testimonio, un objeto que, en el contexto de la posdictadura argentina, ha llegado a ocupar un lugar relevante en la producción literaria y en los discursos críticos. Nos interesará leer Oración como un punto de llegada de los intensos debates que suscitó el testimonio en la posdictadura, y como un punto de partida para actualizar esos debates en el presente, en un contexto en que la lucha por el pasado, al decir de Elizabeth Jelin, se reubican en el centro del debate público. El libro de Moreno pone en juego, por un lado, una teoría de lo testimonial que buscaproblematizar el estatuto de estas narrativas, y, por el otro, despliega una práctica de escritura en la que las reverberaciones del testimonio no dejan de insistir. En las tensiones que emergen entre los usos del testimonio y la interrogación de los problemas que plantea, residirán la originalidad del libro y su potencia para la reflexión crítica.

This essay proposes a reading of Oración (2018), by María Moreno, focusing on the ways in which the book intervenes on the theory and practice of testimony, an object that, in the context of the Argentine post–dictatorship, has come to occupy a relevant place in literary production and critical discourse. We will be interested in reading Oración as a point of arrival of the intense debates raised by testimony in the post–dictatorship period, and as a starting point to update those debates in the present, in a context in which the struggle for the past, as Elizabeth Jelin puts it, is repositioned at the center of public debate. Moreno’s book brings into play, on the one hand, a theory of the testimonial that seeks to problematize the status of these narratives, and, on the other, deploys a writing practice in which the reverberations of testimony do not cease to insist. In the tensions that emerge between the uses of testimony and the interrogation of the problems it raises, lie the originality of the book and its potential for critical reflection.
