Identificación de prácticas sustentables en la producción hortícola de la provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina

Abstract

La provincia de Buenos Aires es la principal productora de hortalizas en Argentina. En elterritorio se pueden identificar varias regiones con distinto perfil productivo hortícola. Esteestudio se basa en la región hortícola noreste (platense) con una significativa superficie decultivos bajo cubierta y la región del sudeste (marplatense) con una superficie en producciónprincipalmente a campo abierto, ambas seleccionadas por la disponibilidad de datos. Elobjetivo de este trabajo fue identificar prácticas sustentables en producciones hortícolas deestas áreas en la provincia de Buenos Aires, a través de una revisión sistemática de bibliografía.Para ello, se consultaron 50 publicaciones sobre la materia. El trabajo permitió identificar queen ambas regiones, algunos productores trabajan con prácticas culturales más sustentables enlugar de continuar con el modelo hortícola convencional, poco sustentable. Un mayor avancede estas prácticas traería beneficios socioeconómicos y ambientales en las regiones analizadas.Una limitante del trabajo es que permite identificar pero no cuantificar la cantidad deproductores que aplican estas prácticas.

The Province of Buenos Aires is the main producer of vegetables in Argentina. Several regions with different vegetable production profiles can be identified within the territory. This study is based on the northeastern horticultural region (Platense), with a significant area of covered crops, and the southeastern region (Mar del Plata), with an area of production mainly in open fields, both selected due to the availability of data. The aim of this worked to identify sustainable practices in horticultural production in these areas in the Province of Buenos Aires, through a systematic review of the literature. To this end, 50 publications on the subject were consulted. The work allowed us to identify that in both regions some producers are working with more sustainable cultural practices, rather than continuing with the conventional horticultural model, which is not very sustainable. Further progress in these practices would bring socio-economic and environmental benefits to the regions studied. A limitation of the work is that it allows the identification but not the quantification of the number of producers using these practices.
