Habitar la villa 20 desde la memoria: un estudio de relatos alojados en la construcción del archivo de la memoria popular

Abstract

Presentamos el proceso de construcción de un archivo de memoria popular en Villa 20, Lugano, ciudad de Buenos Aires. Interpretamos los aportes que este tipo de reservorio puede ofrecer al análisis del derecho a habitar la ciudad y de las dinámicas históricas de transformación de las grandes urbes. Para ello, situamos primero a la Construcción del Archivo de Memoria Popular Villa 20 (CAMPV20 o Archivo en lo que sigue) en su contexto. Hemos elaborado nuestro análisis en tres secciones. En la primera, desde la perspectiva de los estudios urbanos, ponemos en visibilidad los procesos históricos recientes del barrio tomando tres categorías clave: lugar, espacio y territorio. En la segunda, presentamos un marco interpretativo del Archivo que abona a la noción de que en estas prácticas de memoria se está construyendo una historia situada de una parte de la ciudad como Buenos Aires. En el tercer apartado analítico presentamos y analizamos el material alojado en la web del Archivo, material que da cuenta de diferentes procesos que posibilitan habitar la Villa 20. De este modo, nuestro argumento central es que la construcción de un archivo de memoria popular en Villa 20 está efectuando un aporte importante a la comprensión del proceso histórico de ese territorio y a las disputas en torno al derecho a habitar la ciudad. En las conclusiones damos cuenta de nuestras respuestas posibles a dos interrogantes que guiaron el análisis: ¿Cómo contribuye la construcción de un archivo de memoria popular en la Villa 20 a la comprensión del proceso histórico de ese territorio? y ¿Cómo se lleva a cabo concretamente el proceso de rememoración del derecho a habitar este territorio y qué efectos parece producir esta rememoración en la narrativa sobre el pasado, en el posicionamiento presente y en la prefiguración de futuros posibles? Sostenemos que la perspectiva analítica e interpretativa que llevamos adelante permite un aporte original al campo de los estudios urbanos ya que indaga acerca de la posibilidad de habitar la Villa 20 desde una práctica concreta del ejercicio de la memoria, produciendo una matriz analítico-interpretativa transdisciplinar.

We present the process of construction of a popular memory archive in Villa 20, Lugano, Buenos Aires. We interpret the contributions that this type of reservoir offers to the analysis of the right to inhabit the city and the historical dynamics of transformation of large cities. To do so, we first situate the Construction of the Archive of Popular Memory Villa 20 (CAMPV20 or Archive) in its context. We have elaborated our analysis in three sections that should be read as related reciprocally. In the first, from an urban studies perspective, we make visible recent historical processes at Lugano, through the notions of place, space and territory. In the second, we present an interpretative framework that supports that in these memory practices a situated history of a part of the city like Buenos Aires is being constructed. In the third section we present and analyze in depth two testimonies hosted on the Archive's website, explaining their selection and developing an analysis that starts from the lexicon and islinked to the concepts developed in the two preceding sections. Thus, our central argument is that the construction of a popular memory archive in Villa 20 is making an important contribution to the understanding of the historical process of that territory and to the disputes surrounding the right to inhabit the city. In the conclusions we give an account of our possible answers to two questions that guided the analysis: How does the construction of an archive of popular memory in Villa 20 contribute to the understanding of the historical process of this territory, and how does the process of remembrance of the right to inhabit this territory take place concretely and what effects does this remembrance seem to produce in the narrative about the past, in thepresent positioning and in the prefiguration of possible futures? We argue that the analytical and interpretative perspective that we carry out allows an original contribution to the field of urban studies as it inquires about the possibility of inhabiting Villa 20 from a concrete practice of the exercise of memory, producing a transdisciplinary analytical-interpretative matrix.
