Los afrodescendientes esclavizados en la estancia jesuita de Jesús María (Córdoba) al momento de la expulsión

Abstract

Este trabajo propone analizar la fuerza laboral con que contaba la estancia jesuítica de Jesús María que sostenía la educación gratuita de la universidad de San Ignacio de Córdoba. Se presenta con datos y cifras obtenidas del inventario de la expulsión lo que no constituye una representatividad del problema de la esclavitud entre los jesuitas, aunque evidencia la importancia que tuvieron en la productividad de las mismas. No solo para el autoabastecimiento de un numeroso grupo humano sino para los intercambios internos que se hacían entre estos establecimientos y otros, como a su vez con excedentes para un mercado mayor. De tal manera se tuvo una aproximación en la observación puntual del grupo humano, de su conformación etaria, sexo y otras variables con ciertas dificultades y limitaciones que aporta la escasa documentación existente.

This paper proposes to analyze the labor force of the Jesuit ranch of Jesús María, which supported the free education of the University of San Ignacio de Córdoba. It is presented with data and figures obtained from the inventory of the expulsion, which does not represent the problem of slavery among the Jesuits, although it shows the importance they had in their productivity. Not only for the self-sufficiency of a large human group, but also for the internal exchanges that took place between these establishments and others, as well as with surpluses for a larger market. In this way we had an approximation in the punctual observation of the human group, its age conformation, sex and other variables with certain difficulties and limitations provided by the scarce existing documentation.
