Marcado de referencia en aché (tupí-guaraní)

Abstract

El objetivo de este artículo consiste en realizar una primera aproximación al estudio de algunos de los mecanismos para marcar la referencia en aché, lengua de la familia tupí-guaraní. Se propone un abordaje cualitativo de los recursos morfosintácticos al examinar una narrativa aché, recogida por la misionera lingüista Ruth Sammons en 1976, cuando la lengua se encontraba en una situación de vitalidad, a diferencia de lo que se observa en la actualidad. Este análisis ha sido complementado con datos obtenidos por el autor en un trabajo de campo realizado en la comunidad aché de Cerro Morotí (Caaguazú, Paraguay). El aché presenta varias diferencias estructurales con respecto a otras lenguas de la familia. Entre otras, esta variedad se destaca por no poder marcar los argumentos en los verbos, algo característico en la mayoría de las lenguas tupí-guaraní. A partir de este rasgo, proponemos como hipótesis que, en el discurso narrativo, los hablantes de aché van a priorizar los marcadores de baja accesibilidad por sobre aquellos que denotan alta accesibilidad, pese al estatus cognitivo que dicho referente posea en la mente de los interlocutores y a la distancia que exista entre sus subsecuentes menciones.

The objective of this paper consists in making a first approximation of some of the devices for tracking reference in the ache, a language of the tupi-guarani linguistic family. Primary and secondary data was used to make this research. In the first place, we are going to do a qualitative analysis of the resources utilized to track the reference in an ache narrative, picked up by the missionary linguistic Ruth Sammons in 1976, when the language presented still a situation of high vitality. This analysis was complemented with data obtained in my fieldwork, in the Ache community of Cerro Morotí (Caaguazú, Paraguay).Ache presents many differences from other languages within the family. Among those differences, this variety stands out for being unable to mark the core arguments in the verbs, as happens with the other languages of this subgroup. Considering this ache feature, we propose as hypothesis that the speakers are going to prioritize in their speeches low accessibility markers instead of high accessibility ones, without considering the cognitive status that such referent had in the speaker’s mind and the distance between their mentions.
