La ideología en torno a la extracción del litio: movilidad, expulsión y fin

Abstract

Las investigaciones sobre el litio en la Argentina han brindado información sobre casi todos sus aspectos. Sin embargo, hasta ahora, no se ha abordado el carácter cultural del litio ni su esfera ideológica. Analizamos, entonces, los elementos vinculados al amplio mundo del litio, desde el sentido que expresa la imagen del salar y sus nombres pomposos (“oro blanco”, “petróleo del siglo XXI”, “mineral del futuro”, “triángulo del lito”, “Arabia Saudita del lito”); así como la concepción social del auto eléctrico, las fantasías de la élite que domina su comercialización y los elementos que rodean al salar y que no han sido tenidos en cuenta. La hipótesis central que subyace en este escrito es que la imagen-litio representanta de manera privilegiada la cosmovisión de una élite que sostiene el discurso del “capitalismo verde”, de carácter falsamente sustentable, y legitima un mundo excluyente, para pocos, que se ilusiona con fugarse al planeta Marte cuando nuestra misma Tierra deje de ser habitable.

Research on lithium in Argentina has provided information on almost all its aspects. However, the cultural character of lithium and its ideological sphere has not been studied. We analyze the elements related to the wide world of lithium, from the meaning expressed by the image of the salt flat and its pompous names (“white gold”, “oil of the 21st century”, “mineral of the future”, “Lithium Triangle” , “Saudi Arabia of Lithium”); the social conception of the electric car, the fantasies of the elite that dominates its commercialization, and the elements around the salt flat and that have not been investigated. The central hypothesis underlying this work is that the image of lithium represents, in a privileged way, the ideology of an elite that supports the discourse of “green capitalism”, which is falsely sustainable, legitimizing an exclusive world, for few, and imagining an escape to Mars when our own Earth is no longer habitable.
