From identity politics to a critical theory of kin: The case of Argentina

Abstract

Critical Theory faces the challenge to support and create a process of redistribution of wealth and recognition. In Argentina, this second aspect has found its way through State in a series of laws that amplified sexual and identity rights, on which the Comprehensive Sexual Education law (2006) becomes a general working frame. I shall try to reconstruct this process, highlighting its limitations and its current agenda, in order to make a movement from within the critical theories that supported it. I hope this movement will take me from our current attention on “identity” to a new problem: “kin”.
