Turismo de cruceros: Su influencia en el comportamiento espacial del Parque Nacional Tierra del Fuego (PNTDF), Ushuaia

Abstract

Ushuaia se posiciona como un destino de cruceros por excelencia gracias a las ventajas comparativas y competitivas. Considerando el turismo como práctica socio-espacial, se destaca el estudio del comportamiento de los visitantes. Particularmente, para este trabajo se plantea analizar el comportamiento espacial del turismo en el Parque Nacional Tierra del Fuego, durante la temporada de cruceros 2022-2023. Se estableció una metodología basada en la aplicación de la técnica de la observación directa no participante, que permite establecer un acercamiento directo con el hecho a estudiar. Los principales resultados manifiestan una congestión fluctuante, con marcados momentos de mayor uso del espacio, influenciada por la presencia de cruceristas. Esta congestión se vincula a los tipos de vehículos y visitantes, según la diversidad de oferta turística que confluye en el área protegida, cuya distribución horaria se concentra entre las 10 hs y las 11:30 hs. A partir de lo expuesto, se reafirma que esta área protegida corresponde a un atractivo de jerarquía para el turismo de cruceros y por lo tanto influye directamente en su dinámica y en su nivel de congestión.

Ushuaia is positioned as a cruise destination par excellence thanks to its comparative and competitive advantages. Considering tourism as a socio-spatial practice, the study of visitor behavior stands out. Particularly, for this work, it is proposed to analyze the spatial behavior of tourism in the Tierra del Fuego National Park, during the 2022-2023 cruise season. A methodology based on the application of the non-participant direct observation technique was established, since it allows establishing a direct approach with the fact to be studied. The main results show a fluctuating congestion, with marked moments of greater use of space, influenced by the presence of cruise passengers. This congestion is linked to the types of vehicles and visitors, according to the diversity of tourist offer that converges in the protected area, whose time distribution is concentrated between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Based on the above, it is reaffirmed that this protected area corresponds to a hierarchy attraction for cruise tourism and therefore directly influences its dynamics and its level of congestion. Therefore, this work contributes directly to the planning and management of this national park.
