En Torno al Cognitivismo Estético en Aristóteles. Objeciones a la interpretación de Mímesis como la Clarificación Intelectual

Abstract

La concepción cognitivista del arte sostiene que la obra es capaz de proporcionar conocimiento del mundo y que tal función es parte de su valor artístico. Los teóricos que defienden tal perspectiva concuerdan en señalar a Aristóteles como el primer representante del cognitivismo estético. Esto coincide con la interpretación de mímesis como clarificación intelectual que realizara Leon Golden a partir del estudio de Poética. Sin embargo, tal interpretación resulta inconsistente con numerosos pasajes de la obra aristotélica. En tal sentido, el presente trabajo pretende objetar el supuesto cognitivismo de Aristóteles en torno al arte y señalar, por el contrario, que en Poética se menciona la posibilidad de valorar al arte mimético a partir de cualidades puramente estéticas.

The cognitivist conception of art argues that the artwork is able to provide knowledge of the world and this function is part of its artistic value. Theorists who defend this perspective agree in pointing to Aristotle as the first representative of aesthetic cognitivism. This agrees with the interpretation of mimesis as intellectual clarification advanced by Leon Golden from the study of Poetics. However, this interpretation is inconsistent with numerous passages in the Aristotelian work. In this sense, the present work aims to object the alleged cognitivism in Aristotle about art and mark, show, contrariwise, that in Poetics the possibility of assessing the mimetic art from purely aesthetic qualities is mentioned.
