La dimensión normativa del hábito en Maurice Merleau-Ponty: Los objetos como organizadores de la corporalidad

Abstract

Cuando pensamos en términos de cuerpo habitual, cuerpo vivido o esquema corporal dentro de la filosofía de Maurice Merleau-Ponty, los objetos aparecen como una parte constituyente de la corporalidad en virtud de la plasticidad y aperturidad que la caracteriza. Estos objetos, a su vez, son portadores de formas determinadas (y esperables) de moverse y de ser con los otros. ¿Qué quiere decir, en definitiva, que las cosas “suscitan conductas determinadas”? En el marco de esta manera de entender la relación del cuerpo con el mundo, el concepto de hábito motriz nos enfrenta con la dimensión normativa y formadora inherente a los objetos que manipulamos y transitamos a lo largo de nuestra vida, haciendo del cuerpo una construcción oscilante, permeada por los otros y atravesada por las costumbres, normas e ideales que circulan en una comunidad. La noción de hábito motriz o perceptivo nos invita a pensar, entonces, en los objetos o útiles que utilizamos como eminentemente “domesticadores” u organizadores del cuerpo, en tanto vehículos de la dimensión normativa de una comunidad.

When we think in terms of the habitual body, lived body or body schema within the philosophy of Maurice Mer-leau-Ponty, objects appear as a constituent part of corporeality by virtue of the plasticity and openness that characterize it. These objects, in turn, provoke determined (and expected) ways of moving and being with others. Within the framework of this way of understanding the relationship of the body with the world, the concept of motor habit confronts us with the nor-mative and formative dimension inherent in the objects that we manipulate, making the body an oscillating construction, permeated by others, and traversed by the customs, norms and ideals that circulate in a community. The notion of motor or perceptive habit invites us to think, then, of the objects or tools that we use as eminently "tamers" or organizers of the body, as vehicles of the normative dimension of a community.
