Desafíos de una Etnohistoria presente: Reflexiones en torno a la historia de Salinas Grandes (Jujuy, Argentina)

Abstract

Atentos a las urgencias, expectativas y demandas que desde el presente interpelan a la etnohistoria, en este trabajo nos proponemos realizar una reflexión acerca de los desafíos de una “etnohistoria presente” a partir de un recorrido disciplinar con un doble objetivo: poner a la Etnohistoria de cara al problema de las pertenencias al territorio. Así como, finalmente, llegar a plantear una serie de lineamientos para un caso particular de análisis sobre la historia de la cuenca de Salinas Grandes-Laguna de Guayatayoc (Puna de Jujuy, Argentina), proponiendo una historia del salar y de sus habitantes a partir de la reconstrucción y análisis de las prácticas rituales que, en y desde distintas tradiciones históricas, expresaron y expresan una dimensión sagrada del salar en la larga duración, considerando para ello tres momentos; uno prehispánico-incaico, uno colonial y otro estatal-nacional.

In light of the urgent matters, expectations, and demands emerging from the present and calling contemporary ethnohistory into question, this article reflects on the challenges posed by an "ethnohistory of the present." The research approach has a twofold objective: assessing how ethnohistory can contribute to addressing the problem of territorial belonging, and proposing a series of guidelines for a case study on the history of the Salinas Grandes-Laguna de Guayatayoc Basin (the Puna in Jujuy and Salta, Argentina). The article proposes a history of the salt flat and its inhabitants based on the reconstruction and analysis of rituals, in and from different traditions, that manifested or manifest the sacred dimension of the salt flat in three different historical periods: the prehispanic and Inca period, the colonial period, and the Nation-states period.
