Narrativas de un tiempo en crisis: Reconfiguraciones de las representaciones del futuro en la Argentina contemporánea

Abstract

En este trabajo nos proponemos indagar en las representaciones de la crisis en la sociedad argentina contemporánea a través del análisis del material discursivo producido en el marco de una investigación desarrollada durante 2021 que incluye tanto entrevistas en profundidad como grupos focales. Durante el segundo año de padecimiento de los efectos de la pandemia de COVID-19, pudimos registrar que la crisis se había vuelto un significante clave a la hora de caracterizar la experiencia subjetiva en tiempo presente, tensionada entre la incertidumbre y la certeza de la repetición de lo siempre igual. Esa tensión, sintomatizada en la dificultad para producir imágenes de un futuro promisorio luego de la crisis sanitaria (articulada a nivel local con diversas crisis económicas y políticas), nos sugiere que es la propia representación lineal del tiempo la que se ha transformado. Aquí nos interesa revisar esta hipótesis sobre una crisis del tiempo que viene siendo pensada, ya desde antes de la pandemia y a nivel global, como un triunfo del presentismo. Reconociendo el trastocamiento de la experiencia moderna del tiempo que esos diagnósticos vienen a señalar, consideramos necesario problematizar el supuesto de que las imágenes de futuro hayan sido efectivamente eliminadas de la experiencia subjetiva en el presente. Por eso, nuestro objetivo principal consistirá en identificar diferentes narrativas temporales en los discursos, a fin de construir una tipología sensible a las diferencias existentes entre las imágenes de futuro emergentes de los relatos de la crisis en la sociedad argentina contemporánea.

In this work we propose to investigate the representations of the crisis in contemporary Argentine society through the analysis of the discursive material produced in the context of an investigation carried out during 2021 that includes both in-depth interviews and focus groups. During the second year of suffering the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were able to register that the crisis had become a key signifier when it comes to characterizing the subjective experience in the present time, an experience tensioned between the uncertainty and the continuous repetition of the same certainty. This tension, symptomatized in the difficulty of producing images of a promising future after the sanitary crisis (articulated locally with various economic and political crises), suggests that it is the very linear representation of time that has been transformed. Here we are interested in reviewing this hypothesis about a time crisis that has been thought, also before the pandemic and globally, as a triumph of "presentism". Assuming the disruption of the modern experience of time suggested by these diagnoses, we consider that it is necessary to problematize the assumption that images of the future have been effectively eliminated from subjective experience in the present. For this reason, our main objective is to identify different temporal narratives in the discourses, in order to build a typology sensitive to the differences between the images of the future emerging from the accounts of the crisis in contemporary Argentine society.
