Tailored design of electric cars for more energy-efficient taxis

Abstract

This work analyses the relevance of each kind of energy loss of car mobility in an urban environment, and so, it realizes the difference between ICE (internal combustion engine) and electric cars, as much as between urban taxis and high-speed customer cars. Hence, it proposes a tailored design of cars for getting more-efficiency electric taxis. This design (based on the well-known black London taxi) could be almost universally performed, employing low-resistance tires and other simple techniques to reduce the energy consumption by about 50% compared to the customer cars that now are used as taxis.
