Actuaciones festivas en el Antiguo Régimen de Jujuy (virreinato del Río de la Plata, siglos XVIII-XIX)

Abstract

Las fiestas y las danzas fueron actuaciones centrales en las sociedades de Antiguo Régimen de los Reinos de las Indias Occidentales, porque permitieron dramatizar las tensas dinámicas mestizas y coloniales. En este artículo se describen las que se realizaban en la ciudad de Jujuy del virreinato del Río la Plata entre fines del siglo XVIII y primeras décadas del XIX. Con el objetivo de analizar las continuidades y cambios históricos y culturales acaecidos localmente durante la crisis de la independencia.

Festivals and dances were central performances in the Ancien Regime societies of the Kingdoms of the West Indies, because they allowed the dramatization of the tense mestizo and colonial dynamics. This article describes the numerous festivals with their dances that took place in a city of Jujuy in the viceroyalty of the Río la Plata between the end of the eighteenth century and the first decades of the nineteenth. With the aim of analysing the historical and cultural continuities and changes that occurred locally during the independence crisis.
