Herramienta para el diagnóstico de la calidad de las riberas del río: Sistema Ventania, Argentina

Abstract

Las zonas ribereñas son áreas de extraordinaria riqueza ambiental. Han sido ocupadas y transformadas por los seres humanos, condicionando su fisonomía y su estado de conservación. La aplicación de índices de calidad de las márgenes de los ríos permite detectar, monitorear y gestionar los riesgos asociados a su modificación. El objetivo de este trabajo es aplicar el Índice de Calidad de las Ribera Pampeanas (ICRP) en la cuenca del Oro (Sistema Ventania, Argentina). El ICRP evalúa la calidad de las riberas, el uso del suelo y las características del área adyacente. Se analizaron 5 tramos en 3 arroyos de la cuenca en febrero de 2022 y 2024. Los resultados permiten caracterizar la calidad de las márgenes como "buena", observando un deterioro entre los 2 años analizados debido a la acción antrópica, manifestada por la presencia de especies de plantas exóticas e invasoras y por la existencia de estructuras transversales al canal.

Riparian zones are areas of extraordinary environmental wealth. They have been occupied and transformed by humans, affecting their appearance and conservation status. The application of riverbank quality indices allows for the detection, monitoring, and management of risks associated with modifications to these areas. The aim of this paper is to apply the Index of Quality of the Pampas Riverbanks (ICRP) in the Oro basin (Sistema de Ventania, Argentina). The ICRP assesses the quality of riverbanks, land use, and the characteristics of the adjacent area. Five segments of three streams in the basin were analyzed in February 2022 and 2024. The results allow for the characterization of the bank quality as "good," noting a deterioration over the two years analyzed due to anthropogenic actions, indicated by the presence of exotic and invasive plant species and the existence of structures crossing the channel.
