Las piedras wanka de Las Pailas (Salta, Argentina) y su relación con la reproducción de la vida

Abstract

En la matriz de pensamiento indígena, la incorporación de las entidades no humanas, pertenecientes al terreno de lo natural y lo sagrado, son la garantía de reproducción de la vida y el cosmos, junto al hombre. Así, en la intersección entre lo sagrado, lo natural y lo humano es que debe entenderse también la fertilidad, donde la reciprocidad y el sentido colectivo representan sus pilares principales. En este artículo abordaremos estos conceptos a partir del análisis de las wankas, bloques de piedra ubicados en medio de los campos agrícolas de Las Pailas, un sitio prehispánico ubicado en el sector norte del Valle Calchaquí (Salta). Los resultados nos permiten sostener que, más allá de la instancia votiva que habría tenido lugar, el hecho mismo de colocarlas allí ya representa per se una reclamación ritual, fundacional para estas ontologías donde la reproducción de la vida atraviesa el cosmos en su totalidad.

In the matrix of indigenous thought, the incorporation of non-human entities, belonging to the terrain of the natural and the sacred, are the guarantee of reproduction of life and the cosmos, together with man. Thus, at the intersection between the sacred, the natural and the human, fertility must also be understood, where reciprocity and the collective sense represent its main pillars. In this article we will approach these concepts from the analysis of the wankas, stone blocks located in the middle of the agricultural fields of Las Pailas, a pre-Hispanic site located in the northern sector of the Calchaquí Valley (Salta). The results allow us to argue that, beyond the votive instance that would have taken place, the very fact of placing them there already represents per se a ritual claim, foundational for these ontologies where the reproduction of life crosses the cosmos in its entirety.
