Caminar por tierras oscuras: Emilio Olsson y el colportaje como experiencia de viaje

Abstract

Este artículo indaga la experiencia de viaje vinculada a la experiencia religiosa. Para ello toma el caso del misionero protestante, Emilio Olsson, el cual adoptó el colportaje como estrategia misional, que propició la instalación de nuevos proyectos protestantes en Sudamérica. Reflexionaremos sobre el viaje religioso, visto desde el descubrimiento y la evangelización, aún en el siglo XIX. Nuestra hipótesis sostiene que la forma introspectiva de vivir y practicar su fe impactó en la forma de reconocer el territorio latinoamericano al tiempo que impactó en la forma de exponer el rol estratégico del incremento de la práctica misional protestante en este mismo espacio.

This article researches the travel experience linked to the religious experience. To do this, he takes the case of the Protestant missionary, Emilio Olsson, who adopted colportage as a missionary strategy, which led to the installation of new Protestant projects in South America. Willl reflect on the religious travel, seen from the discovery and evangelization, even in the nineteenth century. The hypothesis holds that the introspective way of living and practicing their faith had an impact on the way of recognizing the Latin American territory at the same time that it had an impact on the way of exposing the strategic role of the increase in Protestant missionary practice in this same space.
