Los viajes de la Unidad Popular: Las “lecciones de Chile”, entre Italia y América Latina

Abstract

El texto analiza la circulación, entre Italia y América Latina, de los debates en torno de la relación entre socialismo y democracia suscitados en el marco del gobierno de la Unidad Popular en Chile (1970-1973). Se analiza cómo las “lecciones de Chile” animaron el debate italiano de su tiempo y contribuyeron a configurar la estrategia eurocomunista adoptada por el Partido Comunista en los años 70. Asimismo, se indaga en el hecho de que una zona de la intelectualidad latinoamericana no registrara significativamente los dilemas de la experiencia chilena pero sí reservara atención privilegiada a esos mismos temas en su versión italiana.

The text analyzes the circulation, between Italy and Latin America, of the debates on the relationship between socialism and democracy that arose in the context of the Popular Unity government in Chile (1970-1973). It analyzes how the “lessons of Chile” animated the Italian debate of the time and contributed to shape the Eurocommunist strategy adopted by the Communist Party in the 1970s. It also explores the fact that an area of the Latin American intelligentsia did not significantly register the dilemmas of the Chilean experience but reserved privileged attention to the same issues in its Italian version.
