Per aspera ad astra: filosofía de la astrobiología, el problema de la extinción y los caminos éticos del futuro

Abstract

El objetivo de este artículo es reflexionar sobre un tema poco estudiado en lengua española: la filosofía de la astrobiología. Institucionalizada como campo del conocimiento en el siglo XX, los problemas que plantea la astrobiología (búsqueda de vida en el cosmos, lugar del sujeto en el universo, reformulaciones radicales en la formación del conocimiento científico, desarrollos en el campo tecnológico, el problema de la extinción , entre muchos otros) son centrales para pensar cómo se concibe la humanidad en el presente y, especialmente, en el futuro. De ello se deduce que esta disciplina investiga problemas de carácter ontológico, epistemológico, político, ético e incluso religioso. El artículo busca investigar algunos de estos problemas para resaltar la importancia de la astrobiología en la filosofía.

The objective of this article is to reflect on a discipline scarcely studied in the Spanish language: the philosophy of astrobiology. Institutionalized as a field of knowledge in the 20th century, the problems posed by astrobiology (the search for life in the cosmos, the place of the subject in the universe, radical reformulations on the formation of scientific knowledge, developments in the technological field, the problem of extinction, among many others) are central to thinking about how the human is conceived in the present and, especially, in the future. From this it follows that this discipline delves into problems of an ontological, epistemological, political, ethical and even religious order. The article seeks to investigate some of these problems to highlight the importance of astrobiology in philosophy.
