Asociaciones funerarias y cronología del estilo cerámico Loma Rica en los valles de Yocavil y del Cajón, Noroeste argentino

Abstract

Se presenta un estudio de asociaciones funerarias de la cerámica estilo Loma Rica del Período Tardío. El trabajo se basa en registros de excavaciones, inéditos y publicados, realizados en el valle de Yocavil y áreas vecinas. Los 76 casos registrados se analizaron considerando las dificultades para establecer asociaciones entre los materiales de tumbas, debido a las pautas culturales de entierro múltiple, a las características del registro documental de las excavaciones y a la historia de las colecciones. Para evaluar la temporalidad del conjunto Loma Rica a partir de relaciones con otros estilos, se establecieron diferentes grados de certeza en la asociación entre los materiales, de acuerdo a una escala cualitativa que distingue asociaciones de tipo: I-Altamente probable, II-Probable, III-Dudoso o problemático, IV-No aceptable. Como resultado se observa que la mayoría de las asociaciones Altamente probables se establecen con vasijas de estilo Santa María tricolor, mientras que las asociaciones con alfarerías San José resultan minoritarias y se circunscriben a algunas variantes dentro de este grupo estilístico. El ejercicio muestra la relevancia de diferenciar cualitativamente las asociaciones estilísticas para obtener una mayor resolución en la información cronológica. Finalmente, se propone un esquema cronológico sustentado en la temporalidad establecida para los materiales asociados

A study of the funerary associations of Loma Rica style ceramics from the Late Period is presented. The work is based on unpublished and published excavations records carried out in the Yocavil valley and neighboring areas. The 76 recorded cases were analyzed considering the difficulties in establishing associations between the burial materials, derived from the cultural patterns of multiple burial, as well as the characteristics of the documentary record of the excavations and the history of the collections in museums. To evaluate the temporality of the Loma Rica style based on relationships with other materials, different degrees of certainty were established in the association between the objects, according to a qualitative scale that distinguishes associations of type: I-Highly probable, II-Probable, III-Doubtful or problematic, IV-Non-existent. As a result, it is observed that the majority of the Highly probable associations are with tricolor Santa María style vessels, while the associations with San José ceramics are a minority limited to some variants within this stylistic group. The exercise shows the relevance of qualitative differentiation of stylistic associations to obtain greater resolution of chronological information. Finally, a temporal scheme is proposed based on the chronology established for the associated materials.
