¿Desde dónde se pregunta? Foucault, Esposito, neoliberalismo y biopolítica

Abstract

En el presente trabajo nos interesará dar cuenta de cómo el abordaje de Foucault respecto al neoliberalismo no está centrado en el mismo en tanto tal, sino en función de una interrogación que recorre sus escritos de la época: la cuestión liberógena. En orden de desplegar esto, se abordará en un primer lugar la crítica a la noción de biopolítica foucaulteana que Esposito realiza, con el fin de mostrar cómo dicho cuestionamiento se halla tergiversado a partir del marco conceptual que el propio Esposito busca imponer a la modalidad de interrogación de Foucault. Desde aquí, se desarrollará cómo la cuestión de lo liberógeno atraviesa no solo el análisis del neoliberalismo, sino hacia atrás, la del liberalismo y el Estado de bienestar, y hacia delante la cuestión parrhesiática, al momento de pensar la constitución del sujeto político de la Antigüedad. En la conclusión se buscará articular ambos desarrollos para establecer que, tanto para el concepto de biopolítica como para el neoliberalismo, querer dar cuenta de la postura foucaulteana de modo no sesgado implica partir de las condiciones de posibilidad desde las cuales el propio Foucault plantea su abordaje.

“From where is the question asked? Foucault, Esposito, neoliberalism, and biopolitics” In this paper we will be interested in explaining how Foucault’s approach to neoliberalism is not centered on neoliberalism as such, but rather on a question that runs through his writings of the time: the liberogenic question. In order to unfold this, we will first address Esposito’s critique of the notion of Foucauldian biopolitics, in order to show how this questioning is distorted based on the conceptual framework that Esposito himself seeks to impose on Foucault’s mode of questioning. From here, we will develop how the question of the liberogenic runs through not only the analysis of neoliberalism, but also backwards, that of liberalism and the welfare state, and forwards the parrhesiatic question, when thinking about the constitution of the political subject of Antiquity. In conclusion, we will seek to articulate both developments to establish that, both for the concept of biopolitics and for neoliberalism, wanting to account for the Foucauldian position in an unbiased way implies starting from the conditions of possibility from which Foucault himself proposes his approach.
