Formas de gestionar la muerte desde el Estado: El caso coreano. Una aproximación desde el otro lado del mundo en la voz de sus migrantes

Abstract

La presencia del Estado en el proceso de muerte de su población posee la impronta de la sociedad que lo erige y en consecuencia atraviesa los cambios que esta conlleva, pero, a pesar de que existe una necesidad temporal y concreta de gestionar el cuerpo del fallecido, el cadáver tiene una función simbólica que requiere de un trabajo por parte de los que quedan para reordenarse a partir de esa muerte (Despret, 2021). La península coreana evade cualquier generalización no sólo por su antigüedad que se remonta a la Edad de Bronce, sino por su apropiación de ritualidades funerarias que se estructuran en distintas religiones hasta el presente. Los cambios profundos en la República de Corea en las últimas décadas nos invitan a preguntarnos cómo ha impactado este ethos globalizado, en su comunidad en Argentina y cuál fue la respuesta del Estado coreano a las transformaciones de su sociedad y si estas han alcanzado a la ritualidad funeraria.

The presence of the State in the death process of its population bears the imprint of the society that establishes it and consequently undergoes the changes that this entails. However, despite the existence of a temporary and concrete need to manage the deceased body, the corpse has a symbolic function that requires effort from those who remain to reorganize themselves following that death (Despret, 2021). The Korean peninsula avoids any generalization not only due to its antiquity dating back to the Bronze Age but also because of its appropriation of funeral rituals structured in different religions up to the present. Profound changes in the Republic of Korea in recent decades prompt us to question how this globalized ethos has impacted its community in Argentina and what the response of the Korean State has been to the transformations of its society and whether these have affected funeral ritual practices.
