Naturaleza, paisaje y turismo en San Javier (Tucumán) entre los años 1936 y 1943

Abstract

Este artículo analiza el proceso de producción turística de San Javier en Tucumán durante las gobernaciones radicales entre 1936 y 1943. Para ello, examina la construcción de la naturaleza como principal atractivo a partir de la creación de las primeras zonas protegidas a nivel provincial en Argentina y su transformación territorial, de carácter principalmente turístico, a través de la construcción de infraestructuras, alojamientos y equipamientos. Se plantea que la valorización turística adaptó las concepciones conservacionistas nacionales a la coyuntura local. Así, el resguardo y el proceso de transformación turística de las montañas tucumanas, entendidas como representaciones canónicas de los paisajes, buscaron enriquecer el acervo espiritual y estético de la nación al mismo tiempo que contribuyeron a cristalizar la identidad de los locales. Con el fin de llevar a cabo esta pesquisa se indagaron documentos de Estado, prensa escrita provincial y nacional y guías de viaje.

This article analyzes the tourist production process of San Javier in Tucumán during the radical governments between 1936 and 1943. For this, it examines the construction of nature as the main attraction from the creation of the first protected areas at the provincial level in Argentina and the territorial transformation of a tourist nature in terms of accessibility, infrastructure and equipment. It is proposed that tourist valorization adapted national conservation conceptions to the local situation. Thus, the shelter and the process of tourist transformation of the Tucuman mountains, understood as canonical representations of the landscapes, sought to enrich the spiritual and aesthetic collection of the nation while contributed to crystallizing the identity of the premises. In order to carry out this investigation, state documents, provincial and national written press and travel guides were analyzed.
