“… a medida que avance la actual línea de fronteras”: Fuentes, métodos y análisis de la apropiación privada de la tierra durante la Conquista del Desierto (fines siglo XIX)

Abstract

La ley de Suscripción Popular nº 947 (1878) financió la Conquista del Desierto (1879-1885) en las Pampas y la Nor-Patagonia e instrumentó la entrega de tierras a particulares. En este trabajo mostramos las fuentes documentales, los métodos y técnicas, y las estrategias de investigación para el análisis de la aplicación de esta ley y sus beneficiarios. A partir del mapa National Territories. Names of Landowners (1885) de los hermanos Edward y George Mulhall, esbozamos un panorama del diseño territorial, la organización y la distribución de la tierra que resultó de la ley, y avanzamos en el conocimiento de los perfiles sociales de los adjudicatarios.

The Popular Subscription Act Num. 947 (1878) financed the Conquest of the Desert in the Pampas and North- Patagonia (1879-1885) and implemented the transfer of land to private individuals. This paper presents the documentary sources, methods and techniques, and the research strategies for analyzing this law and its beneficiaries. From map of National Territories. Names of Landowners (1885), edited by Edward and George Mulhall, we provide an overview of the territorial structure, organization, and distribution of land that resulted from this act, and we produce knowledge of the social profiles of the land holders.
