Del libro a Francisco: Catolicismos y perspectivas de pobreza

Abstract

La Iglesia católica ejerce una influencia relevante en las luchas por la imposición de perspectivas y sentidos sobre la pobreza. Esta institución se estructura jerárquicamente y busca presentarse como homogénea. Sin embargo, coexisten en ella diversas líneas teológicas pastorales, con lecturas diferentes de las problemáticas sociales. De igual modo, los lineamientos que presenta cada papa gravitan de manera particular en la configuración y reconfiguración de posiciones y prácticas de las iglesias locales, de la diversidad de agentes católicos, como así también de la multiplicidad de actores que intervienen sobre la pobreza. Así, resulta importante analizar las perspectivas papales sobre pobres y pobreza. En 2017 el papa Francisco instituyó la “Jornada Mundial de los Pobres”, a celebrarse cada año. Este trabajo describe perspectivas de pobres y pobreza en el cristianismo y en la Iglesia católica en particular, mostrando diversos hitos, líneas y tensiones frente a la problemática. Para centrarse en el análisis de las cartas apostólicas, emitidas por Francisco, con motivo las tres primeras jornadas. Se observa que en estas cartas parece fortalecerse, con características similares y diferentes, la “preocupación por los pobres”, perspectiva hegemónica históricamente en la Iglesia y debilitarse la “opción por los pobres” que en los ´70 fue relevante en las disputas en el campo católico.

The Catholic Church exerts a relevant influence in the struggles for the imposition of perspectives and meanings on poverty. This institution is hierarchically structured and seeks to present itself as homogeneous. However, different pastoral theological lines coexist in it, with different readings of social problems. In the same way, the guidelines presented by each pope have a particular influence on the configuration and reconfiguration of positions and practices of the local churches, of the diversity of Catholic agents, as well as of the multiplicity of actors involved in poverty. Thus, it is important to analyse papal perspectives on the poor and poverty. In 2017 Pope Francis instituted the "World Day of the Poor", to be celebrated every year. This paper describes perspectives on the poor and poverty in Christianity and in the Catholic Church in particular, showing various milestones, lines and tensions in the face of the problem. It focuses on the analysis of the apostolic letters issued by Francis on the occasion of the first three days. It is observed that these letters seem to strengthen, with similar and different characteristics, the "concern for the poor", a hegemonic perspective historically in the Church, and weaken the "option for the poor" that in the 70's was relevant in the disputes in the Catholic field.
