Crítica y enigma en Walter Benjamin

Abstract

Este artículo se centra en ciertas reflexiones tempranas de la filosofía de Walter Benjamin y sostiene que en ellas se advierte un pasaje del concepto de verdad comprendido como misterio [Geheimnis] a uno en que la verdad es abordada en cuanto enigma [Rätsel]. En primer lugar, se establece la determinación de la preeminencia subjetivista de la modernidad y se muestra en qué sentido el programa benjaminiano de una filosofía venidera avanza hacia una reflexión liberada del yo, capaz de experimentar lo no-dicho por la totalidad subjetivista. Luego, se señala por qué la búsqueda de una relación sujeto-objeto distinta a la de la síntesis se concentra en la objetividad estética. A continuación, se indica la aproximación entre verdad y belleza efectuada por el filósofo y se sugiere una conexión entre tal aproximación y la actualización benjaminiana de la filosofía platónica, fundamentalmente, la asociada a la figura medial de Eros. Por eso, finalmente, se expone el abordaje de la búsqueda tensional del δαίμων como la vía benjaminiana para desmontar la concepción misteriosa de la verdad y afirmar, en cambio, su carácter enigmático.

This article focuses on certain early reflections of Walter Benjamin’s philosophy and argues that in them we see a passage from the concept of truth understood as a mystery to one in which truth is approached as an enigma. In the first place, we establish the determination of the subjectivist preeminence of modernity and we show in what sense the Benjamin-ian programof acoming philosophy advances towards a liberated reflection of the self, capable of experiencing the unsaid by the subjectivist totality. Then, we show why the search for a subject-object relationship different from a synthesis focuses on aesthetic objectivity. Next, we indicate the approximation between truth and beauty made by the philosopher and we suggest a connection between that approximation and the Benjaminian update of Platonic philosophy, fundamentally, that associ-ated with the medial figure of Eros. For this reason, finally, the approachto the tensional search of the δαίμωνis exposed as the Benjaminian way to dismantle the mysterious concept of truth and affirm, instead, its enigmatic character.
