"Conpecemos en Ebrón". Estudio, anotación y etiquetado de itinerarios bíblicos mediante herramientas de georreferenciación

Abstract

El estudio de La fazienda de Ultramar, itinerario y Biblia romanceada del siglo XIII cuya estructura y coherencia dependen en gran medida de la ubicación geográfica de los episodios bíblicos, devela la importancia de conocer y sistematizar las representaciones del espacio que en ella se despliegan. Esta tarea se torna más transparente a la luz de un análisis comparativo que recupere modelos textuales y rastree similitudes y diferencias en las traducciones posteriores de la Biblia. Por ello, el objetivo de este trabajo será indagar en la utilidad de las herramientas de georreferenciación para profundizar en el conocimiento de la geografía premoderna y para reconstruir patrones comunes a las representaciones de la geografía israelí-palestina presentes en las primeras Biblias romanceadas. En consecuencia, a partir de la anotación y etiquetado de un corpus compuesto por romanceamientos bíblicos, intentaremos detectar variaciones de sentido entre las diferentes versiones y contribuir al conocimiento de la evolución de la toponimia de Medio Oriente en lengua castellana.

The study of La fazienda de Ultramar, a thirteenth-century translation of the Bible that replicates the structure of medieval itineraries, demonstrates the importance of examining the representations of space found within it: because the selection of passages from Scripture ismotivated by the geography of the Holy Land, its structure and coherence greatly depend on it. The task of examining said representations becomes much more transparent and eloquent when it is subjected to a comparative analysis that retrieves textual models and tracks similarities and differences with other vernacular Bibles. Therefore, this study aims to look into the convenience of using georeferencing tools to deepen the knowledge of premodern geography and to reconstruct common patterns of geographical representations of the Middle East in early Bible translations. Consequently, we will search for variations of meaning in a corpus composed of vernacular Bibles using a platform for annotating and tagging texts, hoping it will allow us to comprehend the evolution of Middle East toponymy in the Spanish language.
