Aproximação a análise da situação da mulher na ciência e tecnologia na Argentina e no Paraguai a partir de uma perspectiva feminista

Abstract

Este trabalho busca fazer uma abordagem, a partir de uma metodologia qualitativo-quantitativa, da situação da mulher no sistema científico e tecnológico da Argentina e do Paraguai. Entende que as mulheres foramexcluídas do conhecimento científico e da educação formal até meados do século XX, pois nessas sociedades androcêntricas as mulheres eram consideradas seres destinados ao cuidado e confinadas à esfera privada, excluindo-as do espaço público.

This paper seeks to approach, from a qualitative-quantitative methodology, the situation of women in the scientific and technological systems of Argentina and Paraguay. Women were excluded from scientific knowledge and formal education well into the twentieth century. In these androcentric societies, women were considered beings destined to care and were confined to the private sphere, excluding them from the public space. This absence or scarce presence of women in the world of science has been considered normal, but in recent years this dysfunction has begun to be recognized as a cause for concern, mainly because in today’s societies science and technology play a fundamental role in social, cultural, economic and political structuring. To shed some light on this issue, we have systematized the most recent quantitative data on the status of women in the scientific-technological systems in both countries. On the other hand, we have conducted interviews with women to observe socialization processes, gender stereotypes still dominant in scientific careers, professional life, and scientific biases. At the same time, another important element on which we have focused is the balance between the personal and professional lives of the interviewees.
