Los jóvenes en la vida familiar: Actualidad y transformaciones desde una perspectiva sociohistórica

Abstract

En los estudios sobre jóvenes que hemos realizado en los últimos 20 años ha aparecido la familia como un aspecto relevante de sus vidas, sin embargo, las relaciones familiares se han ido transformando con el transcurso del tiempo de la mano de los desarrollos de las teorías sobre familia. En este trabajo se presentan datos acerca de las relaciones familiares, en base a una investigación realizada con jóvenes de entre 16 y 24 años de ambos sexos, entrevistados en tres ciudades argentinas. Los hallazgos se analizan desde la perspectiva de género y familia a la luz de paradigmas teóricos tales como el feminismo y el posmodernismo. En el transcurso del trabajo se analizan ambos paradigmas aunque también se hace un breve recorrido de los autores clásicos que fueron parte del debate para comprender la vida en familia. Se incluye también una apretada síntesis de la evolución histórica y particularidades de la familia argentina. Entre los hallazgos más importantes encontramos que los jóvenes mayoritariamente confían en la familia y afirman que han aprendido de ella las reglas y principios que orientan sus vidas, también sienten que sus familias los controlan poco en sus salidas nocturnas. La mayoría de los jóvenes vivencia disfrutar de un clima familiar favorable y algo más de la mitad de ellos percibe que pueden contar con su familia ante problemas personales, pero ambas situaciones son percibidas diferencialmente según se trate de varones o de mujeres.

In the studies of young people that we have done in the latest 20 years the family has emerged as an important aspect of their lives, however, family relationships have been transformed over time from the hand of the development of theories about family. This paper presents data about family relationships, based on a research about young people between 16 and 24 years old of both sexes, interviewed in three argentine cities. The findings are discussed from the perspective of gender and family in the light of theoretical paradigms such as feminism and postmodernism. Throughout the paper analyzes both paradigms but also makes a description of the classical authors who were part of the debate to understand family life. It also includes a brief summary of the historical evolution and characteristics of argentinian family. Among the most important findings are that young people mainly rely on their family and tell they have learned from it the rules and principles that guide their lives, and they feel little control in their recreative activities in the night. Most young people enjoy living in a family with a friendly atmosphere and just over half of them perceive that they can count on his family when they are in troubles. Both situations are perceived differently depending on they are a man or a woman.
