"Soy una mujer que combate": María Luisa Carnelli, reportera en las trincheras republicanas

Abstract

Durante su estadía en España entre 1935 y 1938, la escritora argentina María Luisa Carnelli ejerció como reportera en medios impresos antifascistas del ámbito comunista de Madrid y Buenos Aires, contribuyendo a la circulación informativa y cultural a ambos lados del océano. A través de sus crónicas Carnelli adquirió visibilidad pública, poniendo a la luz sus textos, su imagen y su nombre en el espacio intercontinental. Se trata de un hecho relevante dado que la aparición en la esfera pública era restringida para las mujeres, y más aún como reporteras en zonas de riesgo. Desempeñarse como reportera en una etapa de emergencia insurreccional, de represión y de guerra implicó un desafío y a la vez una oportunidad para una mujer que al hacerlo combatía simultáneamente en dos frentes: la causa del antifascismo y la de la afirmación intelectual como mujer en el movimiento general de su emancipación.

During her stay in Spain between 1935 and 1938, the Argentine writer María Luisa Carnelli worked as a reporter in anti-fascist print media in the communist sphere of Madrid and Buenos Aires, contributing to the circulation of information and culture on both sides of the ocean. Through his chronicles Carnelli acquired public visibility, exposing her texts, her image and her name in the intercontinental space. This is a relevant fact given that the appearance in the public sphere was restricted for women, and even more so as reporters in risk areas. Working as a reporter in a stage of insurrectional emergency, repression and war implied a challenge and at the same time an opportunity for a woman who, in doing so, was fighting simultaneously on two fronts: the cause of anti-fascism and that of intellectual affirmation as a woman in the general movement of their emancipation.
