Dignidad y autonomía en el discurso de la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos: Experiencia de trabajo con un diccionario de términos

Abstract

La dignidad es uno de los conceptos jurídicos centrales en la normativa internacional de derechos humanos. El sistema interamericano no es ajeno a esta realidad y, además de receptar el término en sus tratados, también es utilizado por la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos. Uno de los sentidos que se le suele atribuir a la dignidad es la de su vínculo con la autonomía. Aquí proponemos indagar cómo la Corte hace referencia a la dignidad como autonomía a través del uso de la herramienta informática LIWC-22. A efectos de medir cuánto utiliza la Corte la noción de dignidad asociada con la autonomía, hemos elaborado un diccionario de términos asociados. Luego de validar dicho diccionario, hemos utilizado el software LIWC-22 para realizar la cuantificación. Este trabajo se centra en la experiencia metodológica de la construcción de categorías y de utilización de la tecnología para, finalmente, comentar los resultados.

Dignity is one of the central legal concepts in international human rights law. The InterAmerican system is part of this reality and, in addition to including the term in its treaties, it is also used by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. One of the meanings usually attributed to dignity is its link with autonomy. Here we propose to investigate how the Court refers to dignity as autonomy through the use of the software LIWC-22. In order to measure how much the Court uses the notion of dignity associated with autonomy, we have elaborated a dictionary of associated noun phrases. After validating this dictionary, we used the LIWC -22 software to perform the quantification. This paper focuses on the methodological experience of the construction of categories and the use of technology and, finally, comments on the results.
