La institucionalización y la latinoamericanización de la Archivología: El Centro Interamericano de Desarrollo de Archivos (Córdoba, 1974-1989)

Abstract

En 1974 nacía, con los auspicios de la Organización de los Estados Americanos y la Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, el Centro Interamericano de Formación de Archiveros (CIFA), en el mismo edificio donde funcionaba la Escuela de Archiveros de la Universidad. Corrió con ese nombre hasta 1978, cuando cambió y empezó a llamarse Centro Interamericano de Desarrollo de Archivos (CIDA) hasta la última cohorte de becarios de 1988.Se estudia aquí el incipiente proceso de institucionalización de la Archivología latinoamericana, en el que la enseñanza y formación profesional fue una de las aristas primeras y señeras. Describimos la realidad archivística argentina y latinoamericana que propició su creación y caracterizamos, mediante variables cuantitativas, su población estudiantil, el proceso de la enseñanza- aprendizaje desde los trámites para el pedido de becas, sus modalidades y estrategias pedagógicas; las actividades extracurriculares, tales como las visitas, estadías y conferencias de reconocidos especialistas de su tiempo y, finalmente, nos ha interesado seguir algunas biografías intelectuales de sus egresados, a posteri de su formación, para entender cómo se insertaron en el medio archivístico de su tiempo y pusieron en juego como profesionales la formación recibida.

In 1974 The National University of Cordoba was born sponsored by the Organization of the American States and the Inter-American Archival Training Centre (CIFA), in the same building where the School of Archival Science from the University was housed. It kept that name until 1978 and then it changed it into Inter-American Centre of Archive Development (CIDA) until the last cohort Scholarship recipients finished the course in 1988. In this paper, we study the emerging process of the Latin-American archival institutionalization, where professional teaching and training were the first and founding edges. Here we describe the Argentinian and Latin American archival reality that promoted the creation of the centre and we characterise, through quantitative variables, its student population, its teaching and learning process, the paperwork for scholarship application as well as its methodology and pedagogical strategies. Similarly, we are going to pay attention to the extracurricular activities such as the visits and lectures of well-known specialists of their time and, finally, we are interested in presenting some intellectual biographies of its graduates to see how they entered the world of archival work of their time and how they used the profesional training that they received.
