El incómodo espacio público que me habita: mujeres, territorios cotidianos y corporeidades

Abstract

En las siguientes páginas se presentarán los resultados de un estudio exploratorio que tiene como objetivo contribuir a la comprensión de diversas temáticas relacionadas con la vida cotidiana de las mujeres y los múltiples modos en que habitan sus espacios. El énfasis está en iluminar las representaciones y prácticas que se entretejen dentro de una estructura social mayor, pero que se significan alrededor del ser mujer y experienciar el territorio en un tiempo y contexto específicos. Por lo tanto, este análisis se encuentra atravesado por las representaciones culturales relacionadas con el género, que se consideran variables importantes para explicar cómo las mujeres se habitan, representan y experimentan tanto el espacio público como el espacio privado. Para dar cuenta de ello, se emplea una metodología particular: la combinación de relato y retrato fotográfico en un tipo de narrativa para pensar un entramado social, entendiendo que las nociones figuradas por las mujeres dan cuenta de significados, prácticas, emociones e historias que articulan sus experiencias urbanas. En este sentido, este enfoque permite, por un lado, comprender las experiencias de las mujeres al recuperar el sentido-significado de las prácticas cotidianas desde una perspectiva espacial. Por otro lado, aquello se asume como un recurso analítico fundamental a la hora de pensar sobre el espacio público y, con y a través de él, el merecimiento, los derechos y usos de la ciudad. A partir de este escenario, el trabajo se estructura en tres apartados: en primer lugar, se revisarán las principales consideraciones teóricas circunscriptas al objetivo de estudio; en segundo término, se hará un breve repaso sobre la metodología empleada; y finalmente, se desglosará el análisis de las narrativas, que se conforman por el relato y el retrato en tanto conjunto, en relación con las categorías emergentes.

The following pages will present the results of an exploratory study aimed at contributing to the understanding of various themes around the daily life of women and the multiple ways in which they inhabit their spaces. The emphasis is on illuminating the representations and practices that are interwoven within a larger social structure, but that take on significance in the context of being a woman and experiencing the territory in a specific time and context. Therefore, this analysis is crossed by cultural representations related to gender, which are considered essential variables for explaining how women inhabit, represent and experience both public and private spaces. To achieve this, a particular methodology is employed: a combination of narrative and photographic portrait are used to create a narrative to think a social network, understanding that the notions formulated by women reflect meanings, practices, emotions and stories that articulate their urban experiences. In this sense, this study enables us to understand women’s experiences, their choices, manifestations and emotions, recover the significance of everyday practices from a spatial perspective. On the other hand, that is assumed as a fundamental analytical input when thinking of the public space, and with and through it, the merit, use and right of the city. Whitin this framework, the work is structured into three sections: firstly, we will review the main theoretical considerations limited to the study’s objective; secondly, we will provide a brief overview of the methodology employed; and finally, we will delve into the analysis of narratives, both in the form of narrative and portrait, in relation to their emerging categories.
