Reinterpretando los significados en la práctica de “matar vasijas”: el estilo prehispánico Candelaria (noroeste argentino) como caso de estudio

Abstract

En este trabajo analizamos las diferentes modalidades y significadosrealizados sobre la práctica de “matar vasijas” (o también llamadas en laliteratura como “vasijas matadas”) presentes en los grupos prehispánicosdel Noroeste Argentino (NOA). Para ello, partimos primero del estudio ylos significados dados a las mismas a lo largo del continente americano, paradespués enfocarnos en el caso puntual del estilo prehispánico Candelaria comocaso de estudio. Dicho análisis nos permite proponer una serie de modalidadeso formas en que dicha práctica fue realizada y los diversos significados que lamisma adquiere según el contexto social que las llevó a cabo.

In this work we analyze the different modalities and meanings made about the practice of “killing vessels” (or also called in the literature as “killed vessels”) present in the pre-Hispanic groups of Northwestern Argentina (NOA). To do this, we first start from the study and the meanings given to them throughout the American continent, and then focus on the specific case of the pre-Hispanic Candelaria style as a case study. This analysis allows us to propose a series of modalities or ways in which said practice was carried out and the various meanings that it acquires depending on the social context that carried them out.
