Emancipación y posmodernidad: Observaciones a partir de El maestro ignorante

Abstract

En este artículo abordamos el problema de la emancipación a partir del libro El maestro ignorante de Jacques Rancière. Nos proponemos contextualizar su defensa de la emancipación intelectual mediante el análisis de las tesis sobre la posmodernidad con las que discute. Nuestra hipótesis sostiene que Rancière desarrolla una reflexión sobre la temporalidad como estrategia para enfrentar la crisis de los grandes relatos modernos que prometían la emancipación del género humano. Además, examinaremos el esquema religioso sobre el que se funda la fábula de Jacotot y la disposición ambivalente para las prácticas educativas debido a la tensión entre el pesimismo por el embrutecimiento social y la posibilidad de volvernos maestros ignorantes y participar en la gesta emancipatoria.

This article delves into the problem of emancipation based on Jacques Rancière’s text The Ignorant Schoolmaster. His defense of intellectual emancipation shall be contextualized through the analysis of the thesis on Postmodernity which he discusses. Our hypothesis maintains that Rancière reflects on temporality as a strategy to face the crisis experienced by the great modern narrations that envisioned the emancipation of the human gender. Furthermore, we shall evaluate the religious scaffolding on which Jacotot’s fable is based and the ambivalent disposition towards educational practices, due to the tension between pessimism, rooted in social brutalization, and the possibility of turning ourselves into ignorant teachers while participating in the emancipation feat.
