La cuestión metodológica en Freire: “método” de alfabetización y método de investigación

Abstract

Este artículo tiene como objetivo explorar la cuestión metodológica en la obra de Paulo Freire como dimensión que ha sido débilmente indagada en la literatura especializada. Para ello, se realizó un trabajo de profundización analítica basado en una metodología de corte hermenéutico-interpretativo en torno a una selección de libros y escritos breves de Freire. Este corpus reenvía al momento de consolidación de su producción académica y la maduración de su propuesta político-pedagógica a partir de la experiencia del exilio en Chile. Los resultados apuntan a la identificación y diferenciación de dos aspectos acerca de la cuestión metodológica en la obra del pedagogo pernambucano: el “método” de alfabetización y el “método de investigación científica” asociado al primero. Desde este planteo, concluimos que Freire resulta un antecedente fundacional de una tradición epistémica y metodológica que gesta una ciencia social antipositivista de orientación dialogicista y con una fuerte impronta situada en América Latina y el Caribe.

This objective of this article is to explore the methodological question in the work of Paulo Freire, as a dimension that has been weakly approached in the specialized literature. To this end, an analytical deepening inquiry based on a hermeneutic-interpretative methodology was carried out regarding a selection of books and brief writings of Freire. This analytical corpus refers to the moment of consolidation of his academic production and the maturation of his political-pedagogical proposal from the experience of exile in Chile. The findings point to the identification and differentiation of two aspects about the methodological question in the work of the Pernambuco pedagogue: the literacy "method" and the "scientific research method" associated to the first. From this approach, we conclude that Freire is a founding antecedent of an epistemic and methodological tradition that develops an anti-positivist social science of a dialogical nature with a strong imprint located in Latin America and the Caribbean.
