Primer registro de Oxyrhopus rhombifer bachmanni (Squamata: Dipsadidae) en el Parque Provincial Ischigualasto, San Juan, Argentina

Abstract

El Parque Provincial Ischigualasto (PPI) fue declarado Patrimonio Naturalde la Humanidad por la UNESCO en el año 2000, junto con el ParqueNacional Talampaya. Desde hace varios años, se realizan en el área relevamientosde la diversidad de mamíferos, aves, anfibios y reptiles presentesen el PPI. En este trabajo reportamos el primer registro de Oxyrhopusrhombifer bachmanni para el PPI. Con este registro, se incrementa a seis elnúmero de especies de serpientes registradas en el PPI, dando una riquezatotal de 26 especies para la herpetofauna presente en el mismo. Además, elconocimiento de la distribución de la herpetofauna dentro del PPI podría ser utilizada como herramienta para la toma de decisiones de manejo enesta área natural protegida.

The Ischigualasto Provincial Park (PPI) was declared a Natural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2000, along with Talampaya National Park. For last few years, surveys have been carried out on the diversity of mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles present in the PPI. In this work we report the first record of Oxyrhopus rhombifer bachmanni for the PPI. With this record, the number of snake species registered in the PPI increases to six, bringing the total herpetofauna specie richness to 26. Furthermore, knowledge of the distribution of herpetofauna within the PPI could be used as a tool for making management decisions in this protected natural area.
