Our objective was to characterize a resilient talar located within a suburban forest that has been invaded by exotic vegetation, in order to identify the patterns and processes currently affecting the native woody species. Methods: The forest (55 ha) was divided into seven sampling sites. We assessed the abundance and physiognomic variables of native woody species through random searches (237 hours with 2 people). For woody exotics, we used a combination of transects and grids (96 hours with 2 people). The analyses included descriptive statistics, index calculations, one-way ANOVAs, and Kruskal-Wallis tests. Results: Two native species co-dominated the talar: CT (88%) and SB (11%), while other native woody species were extremely rare (1%). Woody exotics were dominant both structurally and numerically, particularly five species that were extremely abundant in the area. Significant variation was observed in the height of CT and SB among forest sites, with individuals less than 3 meters tall being the most common. The Mantle Index varied significantly between older (balanced mantle) and younger (unbalanced mantle) trees, indicating strong competition for light due to shading from exotic species. The proportion of CT that were standing dead, crushed, damaged by basal pruning, or sprouting varied significantly among forest sites. SB was the only woody native that we did not find outside the forest area rresponden a un trabajo que esta en revisión avanzada publicarse en Revista de Biología Tropical
